Laser Hair Removal

Both men and women often deal with unwanted hair. For women, it is often hair on the face, underarms, and legs, and while for men, it may be unwanted hair on the chest or back. While there are ways to remove hair from the body at home (including shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams), these are often time-consuming, can have negative side effects such as burns or nicks and cuts, and do not provide permanent removal.

Treatments

Laser hair removal is a permanent way of reducing hair on one or more specific areas of the body. Unwanted hair may be found on the:

  • Legs
  • Underarms
  • Bikini line
  • Chest
  • Back
  • Face

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

When laser light is used for hair removal, energy from a specific type of light wave is used to target the hair follicles in the active growth phase. When they absorb the light energy, it destroys the follicles, preventing them from producing hair now or in the future. Laser hair removal is non-invasive and effective at reducing the amount of hair in one or more areas on your body.

How many sessions will I need?

After only one laser hair removal treatment session, you will notice a reduction in the thickness of hair in the treated area. However, for permanent removal of most of the hair in the treatment area, several sessions typically need to be completed. This is because only a portion of your hair is in the active growth phase at any given time, and the laser only affects follicles in this phase, so you need to return at specific intervals to target the follicles that were previously dormant.

The thickness of the hair, the color of your skin, and the color of your hair can all affect how many treatments are needed to achieve the results you are seeking. Different types of lasers are available to target different skin tones.
